Totally Random

No theme to this post. Just random items I enjoyed this week. Some (or all for those of you on the internet as much as I am) you may have seen already, but twice is always nice, right?

Dukkesa31 has been at it again. You know how much I love b&w images, so this video is a total win for me.

Billy Burke is getting set to release an album on June 22nd. You can read about the album and subscribe to updates on his website: http://www.billyburke.net/. The first single, Removed, is available as a free download, and I love it. (The woman in the video is his wife.)

Paramore was on the Ellen show last week and sang my favorite song from their new album, The Only Exception. I recently featured a Robsten video set to this same song (here). This song is just so beautiful. I hope you check it out, if you haven't already.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that Rob started filming Water for Elephants last Thursday. The pics that came out from the first day of shooting were incredible. He looks amazing in his depression-era clothing. It is such a great book and the script adaptation is fantastic. I can absolutely see him as this character. As a huge Reese Witherspoon fan (Sweet Home Alabama is at the top of my list), I am beyond excited that they are making out this movie together. Another total win.

All images were taken from the Water for Elephants site. (See sidebar.)

Now look at what Thinking of Rob did to the images. They asked the question, "Ever wonder what a picture of Jacob Jankowski would have looked like back in the 30s?

I think I'd like to pack my bloggy bags and move in with Thinking of Rob. When I was over there getting the link for the above pictures, here is what was staring back at me.

There are lots more b&w images from the NM NY premiere that you can check out here. And since I can't move in with Thinking of Rob, I've let them move in with me and made them a permanent fixture on my sidebar so I can click and lick every day :)

I'm not sure what, if anything, I will do with this yet, but I had to have it. It's a font created by Twilight Poison of Rob's handwriting based on some of his autographs.

I picked up my People Twilight Special "The Stars of Eclipse" issue on Thursday. I truthfully didn't know it was out yet. I was at the grocery store and walking past the end caps when the cover with Rob on it caught my eye. I smiled (hugely), grabbed one, and put it in my cart. I took about 10 more steps and saw the copy with Taylor on the cover. I actually stopped and looked back inside my cart to make sure I had the one with Rob on the cover. Then I walked a little further expecting to find one with Kristen on the cover. Wow. There isn't one. Once again, People magazine has pissed me off. (I've never forgiven them for not naming Rob as the Sexiest Man Alive, even going so far as to cancel my subscription.) Now don't get me wrong, I would have bought the copy with Rob on the cover regardless, but to exclude Kristen is wrong. Without Kristen/Bella, there is no Team Rob/Edward vs. Team Taylor/Jacob.

To view all of the scans from this issue, click here.

Before I get back to Fifty, I want to remind everyone that my Super Bloggy BFF Mrs. P is on vacation and has lined up some awesome babysitters to watch over things while she is gone. Be sure and stop by. The key is under the welcome mat and there's a party going on ;)

Hope you had a great weekend.
As always, mine went way too fast.

His Black Eyes

When you think of Edward, you think of his amber/golden eyes. It's been a long time since we've seen his black eyes...you know...before the flourescents changed them...the way they should have been when Bella finally reunited with Edward in Italy. I seriously gasped out loud when I watched the teaser trailer on Oprah last week and saw this:

Um. Yeah. Now I'm hungry, too.

Eclipse is my favorite book from the saga. When I think of Eclipse, I think of the special moments between Bella and Edward. Yup. I'm a sucker for romance in my books and movies. So imagine my surprise when after watching the teaser trailer on Oprah, that this is the scene I keep going back to:

You can view the entire show here:

You can view 85+ screen caps from the teaser trailer here:

Angry Edward totally owns me. He is practically growling at Jacob. That is useful information to have tucked away in my brain as I read ff.

Since they are fighting over Bella,
I really should include a picture of her, too.

Oops. How did that get in here?

There. That's better!

Speaking of ff, I've done it. I've finally started reading MotU. The funny part is that it's like a secret club I've been wanting to join but didn't know the password to. Well, the password is Fifty Shades, and the owner of the club is Snowqueens Icedragon.

It only took pleading from bloggy besties Dangrdafne (Dangrdafne Days of Delirium) and TwilightCupcake (Twilight, Treats, and Travels), an awesome video from the one and only Biel (IamBiel), and a reminder post by STY (Twitarded) to get me there, too. I'm a quick learner...obviously. And yes, ladies, you can start the I told you so's now.

On a side note, don't forget to set your DVRs to record Ellen tomorrow. Rob will be on and unless he's wearing a baseball cap or his beloved beanie, we are going to get our first real look at his new haircut for Water for Elephants. WFE (or H2O as it is affectionately called) begins filming on Thursday. Click on the WFE banner under Rob's Projects on my sidebar for details.

Now please excuse me.
I have an elevator to catch ; )

Here's looking at you, kid!

It's the final day of the Birthday Blog Train engineered by Jeanette at RobMusement, and it's time to blog about our wishes and predictions for Rob.

But before I do that, I would like to thank Jeanette once again for thinking of this tribute to Rob and for bringing me along for the ride. I would like to thank the other bloggers who joined in the celebration. It's been a blast! And I can't forget to thank all of you for stopping by and leaving comments.

As most of you know, it's been a hectic week for me with Travis's baseball tournament, the end of his college baseball career, moving him home from college, etc., etc. So I apologize BIG time for not getting to follow-up comments on my posts. Please know that I read each and every one of them, and they meant a lot to me.

When it comes to Rob, I only have one wish.

And I only have one prediction.

My wish isn't coming true ;)

All kidding aside, I wish for this next year of Rob's life to be filled with joy and laughter, because at the end of the day, I just want him to be happy. You might say I feel very protective of him. I also wish that he knew that because of him, I have met the most amazing online friends and become a part of a community that gets me.

I predict that he will continue to grow as an actor and that Bel Ami and Water for Elephants will have been roles that were challenging, rewarding, and successful. I predict that this thing we call Robsanity will not be cured any time soon, nor will we want it to be.

Here's looking at you, kid (repeatedly).

#HappyBirthdayRPattz

It's day four of the Birthday Blog Train engineered by Jeanette at RobMusement, and it's time to wish our boy a happy birthday!!

The view from my desk :)

Pocket Edward felt it was just as much
his birthday as it was Rob's, so I indulged him.

Then he hung out at my desk. You should be able to see him,
pictures of my family, and my favorite picture of Rob.

Pocket Edward makes me smile.
Rob makes me smile.
I hope this makes you smile.

Happy 24th Birthday, Rob!

Rob's Birthday Letter

It's day three of the Birthday Blog Train engineered by Jeanette at RobMusement, and we had the choice of presenting Rob with a birthday card or a letter. Since I'm a Hallmark kind of girl, not to mention a little wordy, I opted for the letter ;)

Dear Rob,

May 13th is a very special day . . . for your mum. When my kids have a birthday (yes, damn it all, I am old enough to be your mother), it is as much of a celebration for me as it is for them. I didn't know how off center my world was until they were born and righted it.

So I know what this day means to your mum. Twenty-four years ago, she held you in her arms for the first time and looked in wonder at the face that would one day launch countless blogs in your honor. Oh, she knew you would be special, but there's no way she could have imagined the words Sexhair, Jawporn, and Hobolicious being used to describe you.

So when you celebrate your birthday, remember your mum and the joy she is feeling on this day (but don't let that stop you from getting your drink on – I love me some Drunk Rob – just sayin'). You changed her life forever 24 years ago, and I'm sure you righted her world, too.

Happy 24th birthday, Rob!

My Gift to Rob

Day two of the Birthday Blog Train engineered by Jeanette at RobMusement means it's time for me to give Rob my gift.

Oh, snap! That was a gift for me, wasn't it?

You dream in color.

And since we're talking birthdays...

You've heard the saying, "Get a room," right?
This is my gift to you, Rob.

Here's to unlocking the secret to a lifetime of kisses ;)

I Was Broken

Well, it's day one of Rob's Birthday Blog Train engineered by Jeanette at RobMusement. I am honored that she asked me to hitch my blog to the train and that you are riding along with us.

For day one, she gave us the choice of picking a movie or song of Rob's to write about. I didn't have to think long at all. Those of you who have been following me for awhile know that Rob's music is what pushed me over the edge into Robsanity. After watching Twilight in the theater (hadn't read the books yet), I went and got the soundtrack. I had no idea Rob sang two songs in the movie until after I bought the CD. I will be honest and admit that I couldn't understand half of  the words he was singing, but the tone of his voice and the emotion he injected into the songs gave me chills. It still does.

I listened to Never Think and Let Me Sign over and over. I bought the DVD and watched it with a whole new perspective. I had to have more. I searched YouTube for "Robert Pattinson singing." Oh. My. God. There were more songs. I was beside myself. I listened to I was Broken, Stray Dog, and I'll Be Your Lover Too. All of the songs were from open mic nights. Raw. Passionate. Beautiful.

The one that stuck with me the most, the one I found myself singing, the one I kept going back to listen to, was I Was Broken. I am still moved by it.

I Was Broken
Performed by Robert Pattinson

Too bad he can't do open mic nights any more :(

I would be remiss if I did a musical tribute to Rob and didn't give a shout out to his musical buddies Sam Bradley, Marcus Foster, and Bobby Long. As most of you know, all three are singer/songwriters. Some of you have already seen them in concert, and I know at least one of you is going soon *waves at Twilove1*.

I Was Broken
Written and Performed by Marcus Foster
Accompanied by Sam Bradley

Crooked Sky
Co-Written by Bobby Long and Marcus Foster
Performed by Bobby Long, Marcus Foster, and Sam Bradley

What I wouldn't give for Rob and his pals to do a show together like MTV's Unplugged – a small, controlled audience in an intimate setting. Rob, if you're reading this, have your people call my people.

With 15 blogs participating in the Birthday Blog Train, there are bound to be some duplicate pictures, especially for those of us picking music today, but I'm going to post a few anyway...and I'm going to post them in my favorite black and white.

This makes me think of

Twiobservations Happy Dance

Last weekend I got an early Mother's Day present. Travis had his last regular season conference baseball games, and my daughter had cleared her schedule to make the trip with me. My husband had decided to stay behind to finish roofing part of the house, so it was just me and Danica. Happy dance!!

It was a 4 1/2 hour drive through Iowa to get to the ballpark. We had our MapQuest directions, our overnight bags, and snacks. We got on the road around 10 am Saturday morning for the 4 pm game. Did I mention that my husband didn't make the trip? It was the most relaxing road trip I've had in years!!!!! Usually when we travel together, it goes something like this once we get out of familiar territory:

Hubby: Do you have the MapQuest directions?
Me: Yes.
Hubby: How many miles are we on this stretch of road?
Me: 109.
Hubby: What exit are we looking for?
Me: 17.
Hubby: I'm going to set the trip odometer.
Me: Ok.
Hubby: How many miles?
Me: 109.
Hubby: *sets trip odometer* What's the exit again?
Me: 17.
Hubby: Hand me a piece of paper, would you?
Me: *get piece of paper from my purse*
Hubby: How many miles did you say?
Me: *grinding teeth* 109.
Hubby: *picks up pencil he always has handy and writes 109 on the piece of paper*
Me: *look out the passenger window, shake my head, and roll my eyes*
Hubby: What's the exit again?
Me: 17!! *&$%# under my breath*
Hubby: You don't have to be a bitch about it. *writes 17 on the piece of paper*
Me: *reach for my iPod Touch so I can put my earbuds in and drown him out*

This is how it went with my daughter:
Danica: After this exit, we'll be on the interstate for 109 miles.
Me: What's our next exit?
Danica: 17.
Me: If you want to put in a CD, go ahead.
Danica: *puts in Lady GaGa*
Me & Danica: Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah, Roma, Roma-ma, GaGa, ooh la la, want your bad romance
Danica: Here's the exit, Mom.
Me: How long are we on this next stretch?
Danica: 21 miles.
Me: Can you grab that piece of paper and a pen?
Danica: What for?
Me: Well, I do these Twiobservation posts on my blog.
Danica: *reaches for paper and pen and rolls her eyes*

Talk about no stress!! We had an awesome time. Travis's team got a three-game sweep and clinched the #1 seed in the conference tournament, and Danica jotted down Twiobservations for me. By the time we got to the ballpark, she was suggesting Twiobservations to add to the list :)

Mine:
Precious Petals - The Precious, of course
Mason City - Edward Anthony Masen Cullen
Britt, 17 miles - road sign; if only he were that close
Smile YOUR MOM Chose Life - billboard; had to explain Living with Edward and TongueTwied to Danica
Shirtless boys working in a field - dogs
A.V.I. weigh station sign - the adventures of Mrs. P at TwiBite's avi
North 69 - Twilove1 was Follower #69 on TwiBite's blog
Totem Pole - It's LaPush, baby.
Spahn & Rose Lumber, Inc. - or Royce & Rose Lumber, Inc., whichever you prefer

Danica's:
Crystal Lake - "Edward sparkles like crystals, doesn't he?"
Wolf Pack - chewing tobacco behind the counter at the gas station
Jacob Tanner Hall and London Hall - campus buildings at the college Travis played at
Taylor Trucking

Clearly, she's Team Jacob. I thought I raised her better than that!

In honor of mother's day, I'd like to thank my kids for making me proud to be their mother. I'd like to thank my mom for loving me unconditionally. I'd like to thank Rob's mom for obvious reasons ;) I'd like to thank Twitarded for being the mother of all blogs and helping raise so many baby blogs, like mine.

Weather permitting, we will be traveling to Travis's tournament games on Sunday. A day at the ballpark with my daughter, my potential daughter in law, and my mom...now that's my idea of a perfect Mother's Day.

If you haven't seen this already, please do yourself a favor and read it. SuzsPetals is the author of the ff The Family Business, blogs from time to time, and tweets 24/7. She also wrote the most amazing Mother's Day tribute. Grab a Kleenex and click here.

The week long celebration of Rob's birthday on May 13th, starts on Monday. Engineered by RobMusement fifteen blogs will be participating in a birthday blog train. (See icon on sidebar.) Should be fun.

Whether you are celebrating with your kid(s), your mom, your pet(s), or all three, I wish you all a safe and
Happy Mother's Day!

Rob is in Illinois!

Looks like Taycob forgot his step stool.

Today is the pretaping for the Oprah show to air on May 13th (Rob's birthday). He is literally three hours from my house and I'm not there :( I did get an email from someone who is, though. Marie at Twilight Junkies Anonymous will be in the audience for the taping, and this it was she had to say:

"I just got back from seeing Eclipse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was incredible.....way better than New Moon and, okay, maybe even better than Twilight. I will post details soon. I just got home from the movie, and have to get up at like 4 a.m. to get down to Harpo."

She will be posting more about her experience, so sign up to follow her blog for updates.

UPDATE: Marie's two-part post about her experience is ready. You can read about it here.

Her email (and now her post) gives me hope that with all of the rumors swirling around the movie, the director, the reshoots, etc., that it will be good. Eclipse is my favorite book in the saga, so I want/need it to be good. We'll be back to Emo Edward and more of the dog with Breaking Dawn, so I want to enjoy Eclipse Edward while I can.

I'm also hoping that my bloggy soul mate, Mary (aka Mama Cougar) at The Cougar's Den, gets her video aired during the show. (Sadly, no.)

Here is the first video she submitted.

This is the second video, as requested via email by an Oprah producer.
(The person she mentions that traveled from the Moline area is me.)

Speaking of Breaking Dawn, as most of you know, Stephanie Meyer was recently named as a producer for the final movie in the saga. My first thought? There goes any chance in hell of us getting anything other than a fade to black for the honeymoon scene. Remember this pic I did awhile back?

Just sayin'.

Don't worry, Rob. Pretty sure Steph will have something
to say about how this gets played out.

I have to give a special shout out to Kat at In the Land of Fantasy for my gorgeous new banner. Check out all of her work at her blog and sign up to follow her on twitter. Thanks again, Kat for your generosity. People like you and Amy at Miss Amy Joon, who designed my last banner, are too good to bloggers like me. My goal is to change it once a month *hint, hint* if anyone is feeling creative ;)

Happy Cinco de Mayo!
