New Moon Review Part 2 - Likes

I'm going to do this David Letterman style.  Here are the Top Ten reasons I liked New Moon.  (Drum roll, please.)

#10 – Humans: Billy Burke, Michael Welch, Anna Kendrick

#9 – Italy Fight Scene

#8 – Taycob’s transformation: mentally and physically

#7 – October/November/December Scene: the desolation on Kristen’s face and in her voice while narrating the emails to Alice

#6 – Sound Effects/Moaning: school parking lot – Robward moans and says, “Bella, your birth is definitely something to celebrate”; birthday kiss – she moans, he moans, I moan; the reunion kiss in Italy (guess that was me moaning again)

#5 – Robward taking off his shirt and stepping into the sunlight: the defining moment *goosebumps*

#4 – Melissa Rosenberg and Chris Weitz: for staying true to Stephanie's vision

#3 – Kristen Stewart and Catherine Hardwicke: without them, no Robert Pattinson

#2 – Robert Pattinson: without him, there would be nothing else

AND THE #1 REASON I LIKED NEW MOON?

#1 – Real and Virtual Friends/Family: without you, the adventure would not have been as sweet

New Moon Dislikes Continued (SPOILER ALERT)

#8 – I wanted real tears from Kristen/Bella, especially when she finally collapses (which, by the way was awkward as hell; after a very long, dramatic pause, she takes one step, trips, and falls to the ground). When she curls up into a fetal position, at one point, she even tries to cover her face with her hand. At the very least, we should have seen/heard her racked with sobs.

#9 – As TO Twi-cat reminded me over at Twitarded, I missed Bella opening her birthday gift from Edward, the CD he recorded of his music, as well as him hiding the "memories" that he existed under the floorboards in her bedroom.

New Moon Review Part 1 - Dislikes (SPOILER ALERT)

#1 – Let's just get the white elephant out of the room, shall we? You all know what I'm talking about, and you've been asking yourself this same question:  WTF was Chris Weitz thinking when he shot Alice's vision??!

Have you seen Allure magazine, CW?

or Harper's Bizarre?!

Instead, you gave us this?!  Alice never would have let this happen in "real life."

This could have been, should have been, a very cool glimpse into Bella and Edward's future.

(In no particular order from here on out.)

#2 – Jackson's hair!  Even worse than it was in Twilight.  Why do they feel the need to take an ugly stick to this boy?!

#3 – The wolfpack acting was very weak, and the only one that should have been walking around without his shirt on besides Taylor, was Alex Meraz.

#4 – No Valentine's conversation hearts from Jacob to Bella. Having been gifted with all three special edition boxes by my kids, I was looking forward to that scene.

#5 – The movie slowed down in the middle and then hurried through the reunion.  They/we were just getting into the kiss when it was cut short by the appearance of Felix and Dimitri.  Shame on you, Chris.  I/we waited a long time for Robward to reappear on the screen.  With a PG-13 rating, kissing is all we have to survive on.  We should have been given more lip-locking time with these two.  We deserved more time with the reunion and the return from Italy.  It was Rob's turn, and it felt rushed.

#6 – The sound.  I don't know if it was the movie, the theater, or a little of both, but it was extremely hard to hear all of the dialogue (and moaning - hello birthday kiss!!), especially Rob's.  Very distracting.

#7 – The music in general.  For the most part, it blended in as background noise.  Ironically enough, one of my least favorite songs on the soundtrack is Thom Yorke's Hearing Damage (my apologies again, JJ), but it worked in its spot in the movie. I watched Twilight again before writing this, and I still like the way the music was a part of the movie. It never felt like, "A song should go here," which is what New Moon feels like to me. And I missed Bella's Lullaby. Love it or hate it (personally, I love it; the memory of Rob playing it on the piano? *shivers*), it is "their song." It should have found its way into the entire saga.

I know there are more dislikes, but it's late.  May add to the list later today.

Dear Santa

I know it's Thanksgiving tomorrow, but Black Friday is the day after, which officially kicks off the Christmas season. Nothing says Christmas quite like Black Friday. At any rate, I wanted to be sure and get my Wish List to you ahead of JJ, STY, Mrs. P., Mama Cougar, rpattzgirl, itsjustme, Twilove1, Z Any Mouse, and rottymama just to name a few.

I've been pretty good this year. Better than the rest of my bloggy friends. Honest. And I'm not asking for very much. It's not like I'm asking for a puppy, a 12-pack, or even a puppy with a 12-pack. My list is quite short, actually. It starts with Rob, ends with Rob, and in the middle are a couple of Beanie Babies. If you need any help putting them on my bed . . . er . . . under my tree, you know where to find me ;)

Thanks, Santa!

Love, Lisa

We really like Bruce Weber, too.

Bruce Weber's Portraits
(Outakes - Part 4)

For more pictures from this shoot, go to Vanity Fair.

More Remember Me Goodness!

For the love of RPattz just made my day. Thanks for letting me steal the screen caps. You did say I could have them, right? Right?!

I went into the theater to see New Moon. I came out of the theater wanting to see Remember Me. If Rob thought things were crazy after Twilight exploded, he ain't seen nothin' yet. He can kiss the whole "They're really in love with Edward" theory goodbye. Robert Pattinson. Leading man. I like it. I like it a lot!

Jawporn in full evidence, ladies. *sigh*

I can't stop watching

this trailer. I can't even bring myself to change my Faces of Rob pic for today. Maybe it's because I'm tired and coming down from the New Moon premiere high. Maybe I don't even need a reason. Hit me baby one more time.

10 Steps to an Awesome Blog Design

If patience is a virtue, then Dana at Lily Bean Designs has to be the most virtuous person I know!

When Melissa, a friend and co-worker, suggested that I start a blog as an outlet for my Robsession (subtitle: stop flooding my email inbox with “You have to check this out” links - lol), I thought it might be fun, so why not.

Step 1: Set up a Gmail account. Check.

Step 2: Register for a Google blog site. Check.

Step 3: Pick out a template design. Check.

Step 4: Customize said template. Screeching halt!

Step 5: Find a blog site I love (My Twilife) and email them to find out who helped design it. Check.

Step 6: Get a reply back from Jennifer at My Twilife suggesting I contact Dana at Lily Bean Designs. Check.

Step 7: Email Dana and give her a little bit of background information (okay, probably gave her more than she wanted/needed to know) and ask if she is interested in working on my blog design (which she hopefully isn’t regretting right about now!). Check.

Step 8: Get a reply back from Dana saying she’d love to work on it (I repeat, hopefully she isn’t regretting that decision). Check.

Step 9: Start the inexpensive and incredibly fun creative process and discover that Dana is patient, helpful, encouraging, as excited about the end product as you are, accessible, did I mention patient already? Check.

Step 10: Sit back and view your personality living and breathing on the computer screen. Check.

Well, kids, I can’t say enough about the experience I had, and continue to have, working on and tweaking my blog with Dana. She has been a lifeline and a joy to work with.

Already have a blog and it’s just not what you want it to be? Thinking about setting up a blog (WARNING: very, very, very fun but addictive)? Need a “Grab My Button,” Twitter background, etc., etc.? See that bright pink button in the left sidebar (may have to scroll up by now!)? Click on it or on this link, Lily Bean Designs, to get started.

Dana offers tons of other features on her blog site, too, including her latest addition, which is just too fun:

If you’re reading this, Dana, yes, this means I have some more questions. LOL!! But what it really means is THANKS!

New Moon Midnight Showings (SPOILER FREE)

It was epic! Chris Weitz did an amazing job. The tone; the colors; the special effects; and most importantly, the story that stayed true to Stephanie Meyer's original vision.

Taylor Lautner, paws down, was Jacob. You believed in him, cheered for him, cried for him, and many in the theater moaned for him. So proud of Taycob.

Kristen Stewart's performance delivered because she made me feel Bella's emotional journey. Gone was the overacting, excessive lip biting, and incomplete sentences. So proud of KStew.

Robert Pattinson has arrived. He has matured as an actor and is finally comfortable in Edward's sparkly skin. He plays the tortured "soul" to perfection. So proud of Robward.

Robsten lives! Rob and Kristen's onscreen chemistry gives you good, old-fashioned butterflies in the stomach. I don't know how many times I found myself wishing for a remote control so that I could rewind (kissing scenes – AMAZING!). This was my first ever midnight screening of a movie premiere. The DVD release of New Moon will undoubtedly be my first ever midnight purchase.

**Apology - After reading Mary's review over at The Cougar's Den, I realized that I left out an important shout out. When Chris, a friend and co-worker, met up with me for my second viewing of the movie, she asked me if I had cried.  My answer was yes, of course.  Then she asked me at what part.  I told her that what had really gotten to me were the scenes with Bella and Charlie (too many spoilers kept me from crying at other key moments; hope I have more willpower for Eclipse).  So as promised, Mama Cougar, I apologize to you and to Billy Burke (because I know he's going to be reading this!) for forgetting to mention his performance in the movie.  His comic timing is brilliant, the relationship between Charlie and Bella (and Billy and Kristen) is sincerely heartfelt, and he is damn fine to look at.  Forgiven?

My good friend, co-worker, and the one responsible for making me read the Twilight Saga in the first place, Karen, was with me every step of the way. We showed up at the theater a little before 8 pm and were about the 25th person in line. The chaos we expected as a result of seven midnight showings being sold out never really came to be. To accomodate so many fans, they opted to open the theaters at 9 pm. We were able to get great seats and be comfortable while we watched Twilight on my iPod, which quite a few other people were doing, too. Karen and I saved seats for the other three girls in our group, which included my daughter, her best friend (and my other daughter!), and another good friend. They joined us around 10:30 pm, which is when the theater started to fill up.

As it got closer to the movie's start time, the buzz began to build. I can't tell you how many times Karen asked me what time it was. LOL! When the lights dimmed and the screen went black, screams erupted. When Rob's trailer for Remember Me started playing, the screams got louder. When the moon came up on the screen, the place went nuts. It was such an emotional rush. And all of our concerns about not being able to hear the movie over the excited fans? Never happened. You could have heard a pin drop during most of the movie. I couldn't take my eyes off of the screen to confirm it, but I suspect that most people had a hand clapped over their mouth like me. I was never quite sure if I was going to gasp, scream, moan, sob . . . you get the picture ;)

I'll say it again. It was an EPIC experience. Karen and I are going to back-to-back showings later today and we couldn't be happier with our decision. It was just too much to take in. We need more. I, for one, could not take my eyes off of Rob whenever he was on the screen. Interestingly enough, I never lost myself completely in "Edward." I was always aware of Rob. I don't mean that to make less of his performance, it's just that I could not stop thinking about the man, the couple, and the Robsession.

Anxious to join more friends and family at this afternoon's showings and get their take on the movie and yours. Don't forget to post your comments below. I love reading them!
